Is Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 9 Coming Out Tonight?
The Yellowstone season 5 midseason finale left fans on the edge of their seats, with many burning questions still to be answered. So are we getting a new episode tonight? Unfortunately, the answer is no. Yellowstone season 5 part 2 is not slated to resume until late 2023.
Here is everything we know so far about when Yellowstone season 5 episode 9 will air:
The Release Date has Not Been Announced
While an official release date for Yellowstone season 5 part 2 has not yet been announced, reports indicate filming has not yet resumed. Series star Wes Bentley recently told Gold Derby that even the cast does not know when they will begin filming the remaining episodes.
“I can’t tell you anything because I don’t know myself, and to be honest even if I did know anything, I don’t know if I would say. It’s so much fun seeing the reaction and it’s all come from it being unexpected.”
Director Stephen Kay offered a slight glimmer of hope at a recent panel saying “Taylor [Sheridan] is in Texas spinning hay into gold and we’re hoping we’ll do it soon. Everybody’s excited.” But that still does not give us a firm date for when filming or airing may resume.
Most expect Yellowstone season 5 part 2 to air in late 2023, likely in November or December. This would be consistent with the pattern of the previous four seasons, which all aired their midseason finales in early to mid-December and resumed around 8 to 10 months later.
On-Set Drama May Be Delaying Production
Reports have circulated of on-set drama between showrunner Taylor Sheridan and series star Kevin Costner, who has been busy working on his Horizon epic for Warner Bros. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the extended delay in resuming filming for part 2 does lend some credence to the rumors of issues behind the scenes.
However, cast and crew have remained publicly optimistic, downplaying any rumors of turmoil. Costner himself commented that the long delay is simply due to Sheridan’s busy schedule as a writer and director of multiple projects.
Season 5 Will Be the Final Season
Yellowstone’s fifth season has been confirmed as the show’s last. Series star Kevin Costner recently told Entertainment Tonight that season 5 will bring the story to a “natural conclusion.”
Series co-creator Taylor Sheridan also teased a “big, huge” season 5 finale, hinting it may involve the death of a major character. With so many storylines still left open heading into part 2 – including whether Jamie will kill his sister Beth – it seems the final 6 episodes will deliver plenty of drama and big revelations as the show draws to a close.
In conclusion, while the wait for more Yellowstone continues, at least fans have plenty of time to brush up on their Montana history and saddle bronc riding skills. Just make sure the Duttons don’t see you eyeing up any of their land – they’re liable to mark you with a large “T” for “trespassing” right across your forehead. Until season 5 returns with answers to all the cliffhangers, fans will just have to find ways to pass the time on the range…maybe practicing their best grizzled Kevin Costner impression in the mirror. So pour yourself a cup of coffee, prop up your boots, and keep dreaming of the wide open spaces of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. The second half of season 5 will be here before we know it.
